Charles Dale "Dale" Hauser

Charles Dale Hauser, 96, of Lee’s Summit, MO, entered Heaven on Sunday, March 10, 2019. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, Velda, his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Service at 10am on Thursday, March 14th, 2019, also at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. Dale was one of three children, born to Charles and Anna Mae (Stolz) Hauser on December 1, 1922. Dale was born and raised on his family’s farm in Horton, MO; a place he dearly loved. After high school, Dale spent a semester at the University of Missouri before being drafted into the Army in 1943 to proudly serve our country during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Kansas City where he began working at Sears, Roebuck & Co. It was there, in 1950, that Dale met, and married Velda Elliott, and the two began their 68-year journey together. Dale and Velda were soon blessed with two wonderful children, Alan and Rhonda. Dale spent his years doing several jobs through the years, one of which was owning his own jewelry and watch shop. After many years at US Supply Company, Dale finally retired in 1990 from his maintenance job with the North Kansas City School District. Dale was known by many as a talented athlete, skillful craftsman, gifted singer, and a committed fan of the Truman Patriots, Kansas City Royals and Missouri Tigers. He was even a champion jitterbug dancer. Most importantly, Dale was a committed husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and servant of God. Dale and Velda shared their talents and love in many roles at Maywood Baptist Church for most of their life. He was a fixture in the adult choir and loved to sing duets with Rhonda, his daughter. Dale and Velda loved traveling the city and country as they watched their family compete, learn and perform. This passion started in the 1970’s when Alan played basketball for the Truman Patriots. Dale selflessly served others, whether he was cleaning the snow from a neighbor’s driveway, delivering food and comfort to those in need, completing a household repair for a friend, or sharing his many talents in other ways. Everyone who encountered Dale experienced his warm smile, humility, self-sacrifice and easy-going ways. Through his actions he taught his family to love others. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Velda Hauser; children, Alan (Roxy) Hauser and Rhonda (Mark) Gilstrap; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both parents and both sisters. The family would like to thank the teams at Lakewood Care center and Crossroads Hospice for your outstanding care and support.
