Gerard “Jerry” Hawkins, 58, of Excelsior Springs, MO passed away June 1, 2020 after a battle with stage 4 cancer. He was born October 30, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN to Charles William and Natividad (Prada) Hawkins. After graduating from John Marshall High School in 1980, he served as a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1980-1981. He worked from 1985-2000 on the dock at Consolidated Freight. He enjoyed football, softball and golf. Jerry enjoyed playing card games, and his favorite books were old westerns. He umpired youth baseball games for youth at AJ Wilson. He was a member of Fairview Christian Church and then a member of Grace Baptist Church in Coatesville, IN. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Chad Zook Hawkins. He is survived by three children, Shelby Morgan (Josh), Ian Hawkins and Nina Marie Hawkins; grandchildren, Elam, Everett and Eli Morgan; siblings, Rita Hawkins, Mary Grace Hawkins Baynes, Charles Hawkins Jr. and Shelley Hawkins Strodtman; nieces and nephews, Dean Barker, Eddy Zook, Jennifer Baynes, Leslie Decker, Mary Timberlake, Sarah Arnett, Chris Thomas and Zach Strodtman; first wife, Stacey Schulz Hunter; second wife, Denise Gast Hawkins; numerous great nieces and nephews; and good friend, Randall Langford.
