Margie Louise (Hester) Hay, 76, Independence MO passed away Aug. 25, 2012. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday Aug. 31 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1915 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 am, Sat. at the church; cremation. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Heart Assoc., American Diabetes Assoc. American Cancer Society or Calvary Baptist Church.
Margie was born March 1, 1936 in to Rev. Elmer Hester, Sr. and Lorene Hester in Bay, AR. She grew up in Jonesboro, AR before moving to Independence, MO. She was an active member of the church and was also a volunteer at Centerpoint Medical Center who, with Calvary’s Fun and Crafts Group, sewed many items for patients of the hospital. She taught sewing and quilting classes. She also was a babysitter for many years and was known as “Nana” to hundreds of children in and around the Independence area.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Elmer Hester, Jr. and Carl Hester. She is survived by daughter Patricia Herzog and husband Robert, San Antonio, TX; son Mitch Hay, Independence, MO; daughter Lisa McCoy and husband James, Lenexa, KS; son Jeff Hay and wife Lori, College Station, TX; brother Gene Hester and wife Mary, Jonesboro, AR; sisters Evonne Trelow and husband Merle, Mt. Leonard, MO; Jeannette Rush and husband Bill, Walnut Ridge, AR; Diane Ladwig and husband Gary, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren Chris James, Sierra McCoy, Jared Hay and great-grandson Jaxson McCoy.
