Max W. Hayden, 81, of Independence, MO passed away January 10, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A second visitation as well as a service will be held the following two days at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton, MO. Max was born January 23, 1931 in Wheaton, MO to Louis and Melva (Malone) Hayden. After his service in the U.S. Navy, he and his wife Freda moved to Independence, MO, where they resided for the rest of their lives. In 1988, Max retired from Armco Steel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Hayden. He is survived by one son, Mark Hayden and wife Jane of Peculiar, MO; two daughters, Leslie Hayden and Paula Dodds, both of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Buddy Hayden of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Maxine Cooper of Wheaton, MO; three grandchildren, Sarah, Melissa and Jordan; and one great grandchild, Steven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
