William “Evart” Haynie, 90, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 6-8:00 pm at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at the chapel. Evart was born August 14, 1925 in Altoona, AL to William C. and Eva Haynie. He was a part of the Merchant Marines during World War II, worked for ARMCO Steel for 38 years and was a proud Mason for 50 years. Evart was married to Adella “Hazel” Davidson Haynie for 56 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and growing things in his garden. Evart will be remembered by his nephews and nieces: Tim Hicks and wife Sharon of Independence, MO, Melissa Hopkins and husband Kerry of Litchfield, IL, Ruby Allee and husband Doug of Sheridan, MO, Scott Davidson and wife Robin of Parnell, MO; and several great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Hazel. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
