Bertha L. Heater, 92, of Independence, MO passed away on July 10, 2005 at the Monterey Park Nursing Center. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, with the burial following at Mound Grove Cemetery. Bertha was born on November 1, 1912 in Gower, MO to Arthur and Wardie Parker. At an early age she moved to Independence, MO where she lived for the remainder of her life. She retired from Montgomery Wards in Kansas City, MO. Bertha was very well traveled, and had many adventures in her time abroad. She was a lifetime member of the RLDS church, which she was very devoted to. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Clarence A. Heater; and a daughter, Patty Jo Heater. She is survived by her son, Donald Rea Heater of Marshall, MO; daughter, Carol Butler of Oak Grove, MO; 3 granddaughters, Marci Martin of Blue Springs, MO, Carol Hall of Fair Play, MO and Cyndi Hamilton of Blue Springs, MO; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Gene Parker of Independence, MO.
