Louie “Bernie” Laverne Heavener, 73 of Independence, MO passed away Tue. Jul 24, 2007 at Liberty Hospital. Services will be 10:00 am, Sat. Jul 28, 2007 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO. With graveside services being held at 3:30 pm in Bower Chapel Cemetery, Urbana, MO. Visitation will be from 7 �" 8:30 pm, Friday at the chapel. Mr. Heavener was born on Oct. 4, 1933 to Hazel and Louie Heavener in Glenna, KS. He was one of nine children. He had been a steam fitter for the Kansas City, MO School District for 38 years retiring in 1996. Bernie was a loving husband father, grandfather and great grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he thought the world of. He was a true Royals fan and loved to attend their games. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Heavener. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Hattie Heavener; a daughter, Linda McClellan; two grandsons, John McClellan and Douglas McClellan. A great-granddaughter, Sabrina McClellan, a great grandson, Mason McClellan and a granddaughter in law, Wendy McClellan. Two brothers, Jim Heavener and Bill Heavener. Five sisters, Ida Plank, Midge Heavener, Shirley Heavener, Jodi Heavener and Barbara Heavener. A former son-in-law, Don McClellan, son �"in-law Bruce Troeh and a host of other relatives and friends.
