Joy Betty Hedges

Joy Betty Hedges, 73, Kansas City, MO. passed away Feb. 16, 2006. Services will be 10 am, Monday, Feb. 20, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 -8 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Raytown Congregation Community of Christ, 6231 Manning, Raytown, MO 64133. Joy was born Oct. 11, 1932 in Mallard, IA. She graduated from Graceland College and taught in public schools for eight years. Later she taught pre-school at the Stone Church for 10 years. She was a member of the Raytown Community of Christ for 49 years where she was very active in volunteer work, including Youth Friends. Joy was very involved with her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but we know she is in a better place. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles W. Hedges, of the home; daughter Lisa Kay Carlson and husband James, Blue Springs, MO; son David Grant Hedges, K.C., MO; brother Robert Kolarich and wife Bert, Godfrey, IL; grandchildren Nicole Carlson, Overland Park, KS; Nathan Carlson, Blue Springs, MO; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
