Hazel Hedrick

Hazel Marie Blankenship Hedrick, 94, of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, September 29, 2014 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Friday at the chapel. Hazel was born November 11, 1919 in Izard County, AR to William A. and Lola J. (Jones) Rodman. She had worked as a dietician at Resthaven for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. She had attended the Methodist church and later attended New Hope Baptist Church with her 2nd husband. Survivors include: a son, Jesse Blankenship of Independence, MO; 3 step children, Mary Ison and Husband David, Marie DeVault all of Independence, MO and Daniel Hedrick of Warrensburg, MO; a brother, Darrel Rodman and wife Mari of Gladstone; 3 sister-in-laws, Betty Rodman of Gladstone, MO and Mary Ann Ivy of Arkansas and Jean Mayer of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Jess W. Blankenship in 1973, her 2nd husband Arby Hedrick in 1997, a son, Kenneth Hugh Blankenship in 1983 and 1 sister and 4 brothers.
