Samuel Andrew Heinlen, 87, life-long resident of the KC metro area, passed away peacefully to his "great adventure� September, 4, 2005 at The Fountains at Greenbriar in Independence. He was a member of the RLDS Church and participated in and appreciated many different Christian communities of faith. A celebration of his life will be held September 6, 2005, 6:30 p.m., Unity Church of Independence, 14304 East 39th. Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ada Elizabeth Lauderdale Heinlen, his father, William Earl Heinlen, his mother Florence Lillian Quigley Heinlen Palmquist, his stepfather Oscar Palmquist, his brother, Dick and his much loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, George Henrich, Jr., George Lauderdale, Dwight and Marguerite Wiard, Jim and Gertrude Sadler, Jimmy and Frances Smith, Wilbur Lauderdale. Family members who continue to celebrate his generous spirit and loving care for all include his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Wayne Crawford, daughter Sharon Heinlen, granddaughter Carrie Crawford, grandson and wife, Andrew and Gina Crawford, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Don Carpenter, brothers and sisters-in-law, Eben and Mary Palmquist, John and Janet Palmquist, Judy and Augie Velasquez, his sisters-in-law Shirley May Henrich, Margaret Lauderdale, Katherine Lauderdale, Betty Palmquist, and Robert and Rose Mary Ernst, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was retired after thirty years of service from Remington Arms/Dupont Corporations as a senior auditor. He served his country as Sergeant in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He treasured the lives of all members of Boy Scout Troop 278 for whom he served as Scout Master for many years. His volunteer service with the City of Independence Utility Commission, with public schools, and his longtime commitment to the Independence Garden Club will be remembered. He was educated at Paseo High School and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri. In honor of his deep love for nature, family asks in lieu of flowers that contributions be given to Fountain Garden for Children at Powell Gardens, 1609 NW U.S. Hwy 50, Kingsville, MO, 64061.
