Elmer John Heinrich, 85 of Independence, MO, passed away, Tuesday evening November 20, 2012 at Village House Hospice. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Messiah Lutheran Church 613 S. Main St., Independence, MO 64050. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052 where there will be a tribe of Mic-O-Say ritual at 6:30 p.m. at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to Messiah Lutheran Church or to Village House Hospice. Elmer was born May 27, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to William and Pauline (Walter) Heinrich and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Manuel High School in 1945. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked for Southwestern Bell from 1949 until his retirement as a network supervisor in 1986. He then owned and operated H & M Telephone Repair from 1986-94. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a Boy Scout Leader and honorary warrior in the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was also a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the VFW and the Telephone Pioneers. He is survived by; his wife Sue of the Home; 4 children, David Heinrich and wife Donna of Ramsey, MN, Carolyn Timm and her husband Jody of Columbus, NE. Roger Heinrich and wife Lisa of Kansas City, MO and Bruce Heinrich and wife Tanya of Parkville, MO; 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; 4 step children, Steve Wilson and wife Diane of Overland Park, KS, Linda Dobbelaere of Independence, MO, Debbie West and husband Bill of Gladstone, MO and Janet Carter and husband Glen of Dallas, TX; 6 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and his loving dog Sparky. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Heinrich in 1996 and a brother Walter Heinrich.
