Everett Eugene “Gene” “Fuzzy” Hembree
Gene Hembree, of Liberty, Missouri, passed away Saturday January 8, 2022. He was 78 years old.
Gene was born on November 16, 1943, in Garden City, Colorado, the son of Abe and Jerry May (Wright) Hembree.
In 1963, Gene married the love of his life and best friend, Barbara Freeman, from this union came four children.
Gene worked for GM until retirement in 1991. Gene gained his nickname “Fuzzy” from his long beard. He was known for his humor and for always having a cup of coffee with him. Gene was a go getter, always doing something, a true jack of all trades. Even though he had a jokingly and outgoing personality, he was a great listener with a wonderful heart. He loved his family dearly. Gene will be greatly and deeply missed.
Gene is survived by his wife, Barbara Hembree; children, Tammy Sage, Shelly (Dave) Rhodelander, Tina (Troy) Tisch, Brandon Hembree; grandchildren, Christina (Wess) Shipps, Bart Blankenship; Jessica (Scott) Keil, Ashley (Charles) Cary, Kristopher Todd, Trey Hembree, Tanner Hembree, Amber (Jake) Taylor; great grandchildren, Katelyn Shipps, Chase Shipps, Jackson Taylor, Ryin Taylor, Gage Blankenship, Talan Keil, Charlie Cary, Mathen Cary, Carson Cary, Creed Cary, Riley Todd, Gabe Todd, Sophia Ashinhurst; siblings, Ruth Moody, Alan Wright, Terry Wright . He is preceded in death by his parents Abe and Jerry May (Wright) Hembree; siblings, Darrel King, Ronald Hembree, Nina Kirby, Bobby Hembree, Edna Jean; son-in-law, Mark Sage.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Family will greet guest between the hours of 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
