Robert Carl “Bob” Henson, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Independence, Missouri. He was 96. Bob was born to William and Clara Henson on August 13, 1924.
Bob grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the United States Army during WWII and served as a dispatcher and driver in the Ambulance pool. After his tour was over Bob and June were married and began their life together. They bought a small house and made quick friends with all those who surrounded them. Friday night volleyball, New Years Eve celebrations and pitching in to help remodel each other’s homes. Bob was a city Alderman in Woodson Terrace and was very involved at St. Williams Church. He was an electrical engineer, graduating from Washington University. Bob retired from McGraw Edison. When he wasn’t hard at work, he could be found hunting, snuggling his grandbabies or spending time at his place in the country. Bob was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Bob is survived by his children Robert Henson II (Linda), Kathy Stone (Mike); Richard Henson (JoAnn), Jim Henson, Julie Orwick (Doug Jasa) and grandchildren, Billy Carney (Carrie), Rob Stone (Tracy Wilmes), Ashley Mirable (Jasper), Danielle Henson, Robert Henson III and Brayden Henson; and great grandchild, Stella June Mirable.
