Joseph Leon “Joe” Henthorne, of Buckner, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 23, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was 86. Joe was born to Benjamin and Pearl Henthorne on December 12, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Joe learned the importance of hard work at a young age while growing up on a farm in Birmingham, Missouri. He enjoyed telling stories about his favorite horse Stormy, his days working on the milk truck and his high school football days. While in jr. high school Joe met his future wife, Margaret. After he spent several years serving his country in the United States Navy they were married. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and volunteering. He dedicated many hours keeping up the Buckner Hill Cemetery, helping out with Harvesters and being an Eagle Scout. Joe was a quiet, witty man that spoke softly but always with purpose. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Joe is survived by his sons, Wayne Henthorne (Ella), Bruce Henthorne (Diane) and Rob Henthorne (Amber); brother, Marvin Henthorne (Cathy); sister, Marilyn Labuck; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret; brother, David Henthorne and brother in law, Greg Labuck.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30th from 1-2:00pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Mo. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with burial to follow at Buckner Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Joe.
