Adam Jacob Herrick

July 3, 2001 — May 2, 2020

Adam Jacob Herrick, beloved son, brother, and grandson, 18, passed away on May 2, 2020. A memorial service in his honor will be on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO.

Adam was born on July 3, 2001, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO, the son of Dennis Herrick and Andrea Smith Herrick. Thirteen months later, he became the big brother to Emma Herrick. In middle school and early high school, he was on the football and wrestling teams, but he found his passion in his senior year at Truman High School, which was broadcasting. He thrived in the spotlight and speaking to crowds. He was a graduate of Truman High School in the class of 2020. He was charismatic and had a magnetic personality. He was very silly and happy, which is why he was known by many as “Buddha.”

Adam was also a talented music producer and liked to remix rap songs with his friends to create new tracks. He loved playing video games on his Xbox, sometimes late into the night. Many family memories were made on trips to Destin, Orlando, and the Bahamas, as well as canoe trips and to Lake Pomme de Terre. When his grandpa Jim asked if Adam wanted to join him in throwing a line in a river to see if anything was biting, Adam always said yes. He loved his family and his friends with all his heart, and he in turn was loved by so many.

Adam’s family includes his parents Andrea and Dennis Herrick, his sister Emma Herrick, his maternal grandparents Carolyn & Jim Rash and Barry & Carolyn Smith, paternal grandmother Terry Herrick, cousins Clint Herrick, Chloe Herrick, Cody Abbott, Lori Abbott, and Lauren Smith, aunts and uncles Dana Smith, Brian & Jill Smith, Bobby & Debby Herrick, and Michael & Robin Abbott, and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Max Herrick, Jr.
