Ronald Michael Hickey, 76, Independence MO., passed away on March 8, 2019. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p-m, Friday, March 15 preceded by services by the Scottish Rite and Jesters beginning at 2:00 pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18002 E. 39thSt., Independence, MO. Private interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday with a Masonic service at 7 pm. Ron was born in San Diego, California on May 31, 1942 to the union of Sylvester and Lillian Hickey in San Diego, CA. In 1962 Ron joined the Navy and served until 1967. He then moved to Independence, MO and began working at Western Electric as an electrical engineer. He continued to stay with them as they moved to AT&T and then Lucent technologies until his retirement in 2003. Ron married the love his life Linda on December 31, 1976, celebrating 42 amazing years together. Ron was a big role in the community, he was involved in many, many organizations. Some of his titles include Worshipful Master of Independence Lodge #76 in 1986, Secretary of Lodge #76 from 1996-2018, Executive Secretary of Kansas City Scottish Rite, Venerable Master of Kansas City Scottish Rite in 1992, Ararat Shrine 1982, President Eagles Aerie #385 1976, High Priest of Independence Chapter 12 RAM, Post 1000 of the VFW, Post 21 of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Jesters and numerous other Masonic affiliated clubs.
Ron was preceded in death by mother Lillian, his father Sylvester and a son Jeffery Markley. He is survived by his twin sisters Jeanne (John) Allen of Pahrump NV, Joan (Al) Stifle of Malibu CA, his wife Linda of Independence MO; his sons Ron E. (Kandi) Hickey of Independence, MO; James (Tammy) Hickey of Independence MO; daughters Kim Iqbal, Olathe, KS; Angela Gentry of Independence MO and son Don (Misty) Caswell of Independence, MO; 12 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
