Betty Jean Hicks

Betty Jean Hicks was born on July 1, 1953 in Clinton, Missouri to William and Opal Bridgwater. Betty went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2020. She is survived by her husband Joseph Hicks; a son Dewayne Ware (wife Amy); a daughter Jennifer Hicks; and two granddaughters Jaika and Kaylie Ware. She is also survived by a brother William Bridgwater Jr. (wife Connie); a sister Joyce Knox (husband James); and a brother-in-law Kenneth Kissee. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Virena Kissee.

Betty was a homemaker most of her life, working outside the home occasionally. She was a faithful Christian who worked in the church all her life as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, discipler, and in the church food pantry and elderly missions.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, from 10-11am, with funeral service to follow at 11am, both at Abundant Life Baptist Church, 414 SW Persels Road in Lee’s Summit, MO. She will be laid to rest in Floral Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
