Richard Lee Hicks, age, 95, of Independence, MO, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at his home.
Richard was born on October 13, 1926, to Wade and Cora Hicks in Schell City, Missouri. He was their eldest child and only son. He had 4 sisters: Maxine, Vera, Dorothy and Shirley.
He attended William Chrisman High School where he met the love of his life, Lorene. They were married for 76 wonderful years. They had two children, Darline and Mike.
Richard was employed by General Motors at the Leeds Plant, and was a proud union member for 30 years. After retiring, he attended school for small engine repair.
Richard was a family man. He was also a great neighbor and friend. Always willing to lend a helping hand or lend the proper tool. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wade and Cora Hicks, his beloved wife, Lorene Hicks, his sister Vera Reherman, sister Dorothy Curtis, son Mike Hicks, and son in law Tom Keck.
He is survived by his sister Maxine Filter, sister Shirley Hunziker, daughter Darline Keck, daughter in law Vicki Hicks, granddaughter Pam Evans (Greg) grandson Jeff Canterbury (Vicki) granddaughter Elizabeth Tinsley (T) grandson Ben Hicks (Heidi) granddaughter Katie Gross (Dan) twelve great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, two great-great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m.
