Thomas David Hight, 83 of Independence, MO passed away on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at The Groves in Independence, MO.
A visitation is planned at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2nd, at The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5555 NW Valley View Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64015, to be followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
Thomas was born July 20th, 1935 in Deering, MO to Meek Hight and Alice, and grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota. At 21 he joined the Navy, in which he served honorably for six years. He then moved to Independence where he lived the remainder of his days with his wife of 52 years, Elsie (Schaefer) Hight. Thomas was a beloved husband and father, and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family. He was a faithful member of The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years.
Survivors include; his wife Elsie Hight; their two sons, Jeffrey Hight and wife Nicole of Madison, AL, and Jason Hight and wife Sarah Beth of Grain Valley, MO; and four grandchildren, Gabriel and Corbin Hight, and Jillian and Samantha Hight. He was also survived by his brother James Minick and wife Lois and his sister Ruth Rigenhagen.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Meek Hight, and mother Alice Batten. He was also preceded by his stepfathers Wesley Batten and Russell Johnny Minick.
