John E. Hilliard Iii

John E. Hilliard III, 60, of Topeka, KS passed away on August 1, 2005 at his home. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel, with burial at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. John was born on February 7, 1945 in Independence, MO to John, Sr., and Lee (Lyness) Hilliard. After attending Fort Osage High School, he graduated from Pittsburg State University. John was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. He went on to work for over twenty years as a Hearings Officer for the Kansas Disability Determination Services. John was preceded in death by his father, John E. Hilliard, Sr. He is survived by his life partner, Beryl Mummert of Topeka, KS; his mother and step-father, Lee Jane Hilliard and Ray Pollard of Independence, MO; son, Scott and wife Tammy Lynch of Topeka, KS; three brothers, Jess and wife Sandra Hilliard of Rich Hill, MO, Philip and wife Julie Hilliard of Kansas City, KS and Duane and wife Beckie Hilliard of Independence, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
