Joanne Hipkins, 84, of Independence, MO has gone to the Glory Barn in the sky November 23, 2017. Visitation will be from 10-11am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the church. Burial will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Joanne was born August 6, 1934 to Vina and Roscoe Jim Hipkins in Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her sister, Louise Trotter, her brother-in-law, Joe Trotter, as well as her 3 nieces, Cindy Fanney, Rhonda Dykal, Terry Hill and their families and her cat Starla. Joanne worked in sales most of her life beginning with Avon and then selling real estate with several companies throughout the Independence and the KC metropolitan area. Joanne was an avid baseball fan and a Royals season ticket holder for many years. Boating and the Lake of the Ozarks was also a very important pastime for her. Most important to her was her love of God, which she demonstrated in her daily life and gospel music performances. She enjoyed singing and playing guitar at her church, Calvary Baptist. She was a big part of the Country Gospel Association, a member of the Trackers band, and a regular entertainer at the Glory Barn. She enjoyed many friends from the gospel music scene. We are thankful for our wonderful Aunt Joanne who appropriately passed away on Thanksgiving Day. In lieu of flowers contributions may be donated in her name to Calvary Baptist Church in Blue Springs.
