Gary E. Hisch, 79 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Village House Hospice. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Sunday at the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the American Legion Post 24. Gary was born May 6, 1939 in Evansville, IN to Joe and Esther (Stock) Hisch. He grew up in Evansville graduating from Evansville North High School before going to work in the insurance industry and had worked for AIG, Monumental Life and Magnolia Life. He proudly served in the US Army from 1958-60. He was a member of GOP Republic Club, the Ethics Committee, the VFW and the American Legion all of Independence, MO. He enjoyed fishing and golf. He had led an interesting life and had met and had lunch with then President Ronald Reagan, met President Richard Nixon and met Elvis Presley while stationed in Germany in 1959. He had also met Joe Namath and had lunch with Joe Paterno. Survivors include; his wife, Janice of the home; a son, Chris Hisch of Blue Springs, MO; a daughter, Amanda Laframboise of Blue Springs, MO; a sister, Sharon Lewis of IN and 3 grandchildren, Chelsea, Hunter and Emmerson.
