Roger Harold Hitch

Roger H. Hitch, 78, Lee’s Summit, MO passed away July 28, 2014. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Aug. 1, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Longview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. The family requests contributions to John Knox Memory Care, 600 N.W. Pryor Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO 64081. Roger was born May 10, 1936 in St. Joseph, MO and graduated from Benton High School before earning a B.S. in Accounting from NWMSU. He worked as a tax accountant for twenty-five years for KCP&L before retiring in 1994. He served in the Air National Guard for eight years. He enjoyed time at the family retreat at the Lake of the Ozarks, playing cards with friends, TV, hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with family and grandchildren. Roger is survived by his wife of forty-eight years Joyce Hitch, of the home; son Lyle Hitch, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren Nathan, Garrett, Camryn and Dylan and eight nieces and nephews.
