Alma Hobbs

Alma Juanita (Bowers) Hobbs, 92 of Independence, MO, passed away, Monday, March 31, 2014 at her residence. Services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Graveside service and burial will be in Sperry, OK. Donation may be made in her name to Center Place Restoration School, 819 W. Waldo, Independence, MO 64050. Alma was born January 16, 1922 Osage County, OK to Derias and Grace (Collins) Bowers. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking, painting and fishing. She was a member of Waldo Avenue Restoration Church. She was preceded in death by husband, James Wilbur Hobbs; daughter, Sharon Grace Gage; parents, Derias and Grace A. Bowers; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Lawrence Hickman; brother and sister-in-law, Derias Wayne and Yvonne Bowers. Survivors include; a son James W. Hobbs, Jr. and wife Margaret J. Hobbs of Independence, MO; daughter Karen E. Farnsworth and husband Larry K. Farnsworth of San Marcos, TX; son-in-law Paul J. Gage, of Independence, MO., 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
