Leslie Clark Hobbs, of Independence, MO, a hardworking man who was convicted in his beliefs and loved his country, passed away on June 15, 2021. He was 80 years old. Leslie was born on February 17, 1941 in Noel, Missouri, to Norman and Alletta Hobbs. Leslie was a part of the FFA, Future Farmers of America, working with dairy cows. He graduated from Carl Junction High School as Valedictorian in the class of 1959. Leslie was a graduate of Pittsburg State University of Kansas. Leslie then went on to the United States Army, where he proudly served and worked over 50 years, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He finished his military career as an Administrative Officer for the United States Army Reserve. On August 21, 1964, he married Mary R. Dickey in Joplin, MO, and of that union three children were born: Michael, Norma and Marilynn. He also took pride as being a Deacon at Trinity Nazarene Church in Independence, MO, as well a member of the Mensa Society. He was a fun person and full of wit. Leslie was a great provider, who loved politics and was very family oriented. On September 26, 2009, he married Claudette “Kay” Wyant in Independence, MO. Leslie was known to be gregarious with his family, and always found a way to keep himself busy. He will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Kay Hobbs; children, Michael Hobbs, Norma Hobbs (Bruce Licklider), and Marilynn Todd (Allen); grandchildren, Evan Todd (Grace), Annette Sowers (Nathan), and David Todd; great-grandchild, Avian Sowers and one on the way; brother, Kerry Hobbs; step-son, Damon LaCour (Brenda), and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary R. Hobbs; parents, Norman and Alletta Hobbs, and brother, Richard Hobbs. A visitation will be held Monday, June 21, from 9-11:00 a.m. with service following at 11:00 a.m. both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th. St. in Independence, MO. The service will be livestreamed via Speaks Chapels page for those who would like to virtually attend Leslie’s service. He will be laid to rest at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. In lieu of flowers and in Leslie’s honor, the family suggests donations to be made to
