Derrick Lee Holloman, 50, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Research Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born November 9, 1970, the third child of Glenn and Linda Holloman in Independence, MO and was a graduate of Truman High School. On September 9, 2000, he was united in marriage to Ilana Carter. They welcomed daughters Camryn Alexis in 2001 and Baylee Noelle in 2003. Although the marriage ended, their devotion to the wellbeing of their daughters was top priority. Derrick enjoyed activities with the girls, especially cooking, camping, time at the lake and was an expert on BBQ. He would regularly post their culinary masterpieces on Facebook. He was also great at throwing parties for any occasion. He loved attending the girls' sporting events and was very vocal in letting everyone know those were "his girls". At the time of his death, Derrick was employed with Treat America Food Services (Company Kitchen) in Lenexa, KS.
Derrick is lovingly remembered by his parents, Glenn and Linda Holloman; his daughters, Camryn and Baylee Holloman; his sister, Jeana Walz; his nephew, Justin Holloman; his great-nephew, Jonah Cowden; his beloved dog Daisy as well as numerous relatives, friends and his work family. He was predeceased by his brother, Bradley Holloman; his grandparents, Ruby and Earl Stone; his aunt, Sandi Graybill, and his uncle, Houston Holloman. A memorial service to honor Derrick will be held on Saturday, July 10, at 2:00 p.m., at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue in Independence, MO. The service will be livestreamed via Speaks Chapels page for those who would like to virtually attend his service.
