Gloria Dean "De-De" Holmes (Burch)

Gloria Dean “De-De” Holmes, a woman of faith, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 31, 2021 with her husband by her side. She was 82. Gloria was born to David and Ortha Burch on April 7, 1939 in Independence, Missouri.
De-De loved her family fiercely. After marrying the love of her life, Roy, they had three children and created a lifetime of memories together. Gloria enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and boardgames. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. Gloria was proud to volunteer her time in community service projects such as meals on wheels and was very active within her church, Ivanhoe United Church of Christ for over 60 years. She was known as her family historian because she kept close tabs on all of those she loved dearly. De-De’s kind soul will be missed greatly by all of her family and friends.
She’s survived by her beloved husband, Roy; her daughter, Denise Mathers (Shawn); sons, David L. Holmes (Valerie) and Roy Dale Holmes (Teresa); grandchildren, Danae, David, James, Lindsey and Jordan; and great grandchildren, Bryce, Alyssa, Carynah, Desaraye and Molly Kate.
A visitation with be held from 6-8pm on Wednesday, August 4th at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. Her funeral service will be at 10am on Thursday, August 5th with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Masks are required per family’s request.
