Elgie A. Honeycutt, 75, of Independence, MO passed away January 16, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Suburban Chapel with burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery. Elgie was born November 24, 1937 in Buckner, MO to Millard and Ethel (Hessenflow) Honeycutt. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne. Elgie worked for 25 years as an iron worker for the local #10, as well as working as a truck driver in later years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tina Reynolds; and two sisters, Faye Dummermuth And Bonita Wilson. Elgie is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Elizabeth Honeycutt; six children, LeAnne Eichmeier, Kathy Stewart, Donna Evans, Elgie Honeycutt, Jr., Ryan Thurman and Gayle Coffey; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
