Wendell E. Hood, 77, of Blue Springs, MO, died Friday, December 28, 2018. Visitation service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11-1pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St Independence, MO 64055. Inurnment will take place Saturday, January 5th at 2pm at Blue Springs Cemetery. Wendell was born August 10, 1941 in Everton, MO to Adren and Aleen (Poindexter) Hood and was one of five siblings. Wendell graduated from Everton High School and soon after, moved to Kansas City where he worked at Western Electric (later known as AT&T) for 36 years. In 1962, he joined the Navy, serving for four years and being honorably discharged in 1966. While on leave, Wendell was set up on a blind date where he met and married, in 1965, Lois Hultgren. The pair had two beautiful daughters, Andrea and Tara, and he was both Papa and dad to his precious granddaughter, Hannah. Wendell was an avid outdoorsman; loving everything in nature, especially listening to the birds sing. He was a life-long deer bow hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, driving country backroads (over the main streets), country music, flint knapping, and anything outside. Wendell never met a stranger and was everyone’s best friend. He was a good, kind, honest man with the utmost integrity, who loved friends, family and his country. Though, it was his wife, Lois, and family above all else. Wendell would say he had “his first #1 daughter, Andrea, second #1 daughter, Tara, and his true #1, granddaughter, Hannah”. His girls were his world, and he was theirs. Wendell is preceded in death by both parents, Adren and Aleen Hood; his in-law parents, Joe and Mary Hultgren; brother, Leonard Hood; sister, Ionell Bennett; and brothers-in-law, Dick Bennett and Robert “Bud” Williams. He is survived by his wife Lois Hood; daughters Andrea Hood-Johnson and Tara Hood; grand-daughter, Hannah Hood-Johnson; sisters Janice Arbuckle and Jeannie Hughey; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Williams; brother-in-law Ronnie Hultgren; sister-in-law, Beverly Hultgren; dear, dear friends Tom, Kyle, Dale, Walter, and "Bub"; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
