James Leroy “JR” Hooper, Jr., 65, Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, July 25, 2014.
JR was born February 19, 1949 in Independence, MO the son of James Leroy and Mabel Elizabeth (Hills) Hooper, Sr. He worked for Fike Corporation for 49 years as facilities manager. JR enjoyed staying busy working outdoors and loved spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Harlene Hooper; children, Sean Hooper (Stephanie), Shannon Smith, Dustin Hooper, Darren Hooper, Shannon Stumpenhaus (Conrad), Robert Mayo (Heidi), Kelli Viterna (Joel), and Karla Mayo; ten grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Perrin (Oher); brother, Roger Hooper (Teresa); and additional nieces, nephews. JR was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64052. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
