Jesse Elbert Hoover, Sr., 77, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Jesse was born April 22, 1927 in Lexington, Mo to Jesse E. and Mary Ellen (Casner) Hoover. He had been employed by the General Motors Fairfax plant from 1950-81. Jesse was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He was a member of the UAW local #31 and the Hill Comorah Restoration Branch of the Community of Christ. He was very dedicated to his church, he was a deacon and one of his many jobs at the church was the director of tape ministry. He was married to Betty Jane Crow in June of 1946, she died in 1997. He then married Ruth (Luff) Nunn, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; a daughter, Carole Sue Hudson of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Mary E. Stephenson of Lexington, MO and Doris Steele of Independence; a brother, Luther Crow of Lakeside, AZ; 6 step children with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Jesse E. Hoover, Jr., John Carl Hoover and James Allen Hoover.
