Charles Hopkins

Charles “Marty” Hopkins, 89, of Independence, MO passed away August 16, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the chapel with a Rose Ceremony to be conducted by the Jesters following the service. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Marty was born April 25, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. He retired from TWA after 33 years. He was an active member of Ararat Shrine, where he was a member of the “Ole Car” Unit, Order of Quetzalcoatl, and the Order of Jesters, Court No. 54. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlyne Ward; and wife, Alice. Survivors include his son, Butch Hopkins and wife Kathy; two daughters, Glenda Haines and Marty Jo Miller; seven grandchildren, Martin, Chuck, Calvin, Rebecca, Rhonda, Ryan and Alice; two step grandchildren, Lebra and Aaron; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and his lady Winnie.
