Glen Eugene Hopkins, 83, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at his home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. Cremation with private inurnment at a later date. Glen was born March 12, 1925 in Wishart, MO (Polk County) to Okley and Ruth (Gent) Hopkins. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Hopkins was a Millwright serving in the local union and retired in 1987. He is survived by his son Carl Hopkins and wife Chris, daughter Marsha Hopkins; grandchildren Matt Hopkins and wife Kristy, Adam Hopkins, Jeremy Turner; great-grandson Noah Hopkins; his beloved dog Bouncer; brother Stanley Hopkins; sisters Bonnie Kirksey, Delsena Stewart, Maudetta Bruhn; by a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends; by his former wife Melba. Glen was preceded in death by his brothers Harlan and Doyle and his sister Velma.
