Patricia Horn

November 25, 1940 — March 5, 2013

Patricia L. Horn, 72, of Independence, MO, lovingly called “Patty” by her family and friends went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2013. She was born November 25, 1940 to Gene and Eileen Caffey in Kansas City, Missouri. Pat’s father and brother, David preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John P. (Jack) Horn, mother Eileen Caffey- Moeller, three daughters, Lori L. Sutton and husband, Jeff, Gina L. Gribble and Paula A. Cook and husband, Mel; five grandchildren, Jon Erik Sutton and fiancé Jennifer Nitcher, Jenna Leigh Sutton, Matthew Eugene Gribble, Travis Lee Cook, and Zhenya Joseph Cook; four nephews and many, many, friends. Pat was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Naomi UMW Circle where she served as facilitator for four years. Pat then served as president of the church’s United Methodist Women unit for one year. Pat was also instrumental in beginning a deaf ministry for the church. Pat was very proud to be a graduate of Center High School in 1958. She remained in touch with several of her old classmates throughout the years. She often shared her fond memories of her school years with her family and friends. Pat’s parents were very involved in the American Legion and it’s Auxiliary and she followed in their footsteps. She was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary to attend Girls State her junior year in high school. She continued to be a part of the ALA and served as the Tirey J. Ford American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 21, where she was Auxiliary President for two terms. She also became the President of the ALA fifth district for two years and then became a member of the 8&40, Salon 94, where she held several of the chairmanships and served as President of the Salon. Mrs. Horn worked for the House of Lloyd for 15 years. She was a Sales Manager for 11 years which gave her the opportunity to travel the US and the world! She even received the key to the city of Memphis, TN when she spoke at a sales rally there. Pat’s joy in life was God, her family and friends! She never met a stranger! A memorial service and celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, at Christ United Methodist Church, Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
