Robert E. Horne

Robert E. Horne, 76, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to National Foundation For Cancer Research, 4600 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814. Bob was born March 21, 1929 in Independence, MO to Frederick R. and Alberta E. (Jenkins) Horne Sr. He retired from Amoco Oil Refinery after 35 years of service in 1982. Bob and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. in their travel trailer enjoying the beautiful scenery. Mr. Horne loved to work in the yard in his spare time and having an open schedule to do whatever he wanted to do. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty (Hurt) Horne of the home; son Robert A. and wife Ann Horne of Oak Grove, MO; daughter Christina and husband Bill Smith of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren Jamie and Kyle Rayburn, Elizabeth Horne, Christopher Smith and Bobby Horne; brother Charles Horne and sister-in-law Liz Hurt.
