Robert E. Horning, 79, Independence, MO passed away Feb. 18, 2009. Services will be 1 pm, Monday, Feb. 23 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Sunday at Speaks Suburban Chapel.
Robert was born April 10, 1929 in Clinton, MO. He worked at Armco Union Wire Rope for forty years and retired from there in March, 1990. Robert was a hard worker and worked for Wireco from 1990 to 1995. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union.
Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Bethel Horning; daughter Donna Pierce, both of the home; daughter Sherry Hurst and husband Steven, Independence, MO; son Calvin O’Brien, Beaverton, OR; daughter Bonnie Owen and husband Greg, Grain Valley, MO; daughter Jeanette Day, Independence, MO; sister Peggy Griffin and husband Johnny, Independence, MO; brother Donald Horning and wife Laura, Wichita, KS; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
