Gladys A. Hoskins, 81, of Independence, MO, died Monday, May 3, 2004 at her residence. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2004 at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Donations to the Live Oak Rebekah Lodge #341. Gladys was born May 21, 1922 in Kearney, MO to John and Lettie May (Perrin) Ervin. She grew up in Kearney graduating from Kearney High School in 1940. She worked for Imco Container for 17 years before she retired in 1983. She then worked for the Independence Board of Education. She was a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church, the Rebekah Lodge since 1948 where she served as past president of the Clay County Rebekah Association and past president of the Kansas City Rebekah Assembly #30. She was married to Almon E, Hoskins, who died in 1968. She is survived by 2 sons, Elvin Gabbert of Sweet Springs, MO and Wayne Gabbert of Independence; 2 brothers, John Ervin of Liberty, MO and Stanley Ervin of Kearney; 3 grandchildren, David Gabbert, John Gabbert and Todd Theen and one great granddaughter.
