Sarah M. Hoss (Van Fleet)

Sarah M. Hoss, 93, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 30, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the First Branch Remnant Church, 2820 S. 291 Hwy Outer Rd, Independence, MO 64057. Visitation will begin at 9 am before the service at church. Graveside services will follow at noon at Mound Grove Cemetery. Sarah was born Feb. 10, 1923 in Alta Loma, CA and moved to Independence in 1946 to work for the RLDS church. She worked at Herald House and later taught high school in the Kansas City School District. She was a member of the church and volunteered to advocate Adult Literacy programs. She enjoyed reading, gardening and was a wonderful seamstress. Sarah was preceded in death by husband A. Raymond Hoss; brothers Robert Van Fleet, William Van Fleet, Frank Van Fleet, Ralph Van Fleet and Bernie Van Fleet. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Stillwell and husband Dan, Henderson, NV; Mary Anne Rasmussen and husband John, Corona, CA; Linda VerDught and husband Ammon, Lee’s Summit, MO; son James Hoss and wife Jiab, Mandeville, LA; brother Edgar Van Fleet, Independence, MO; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
