Howard Edward Huey, Jr. passed away on February 6, 2024, at the age of 87 in North Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on June 14, 1936, in Appleton City, Missouri to his loving parents Howard Edward Huey, Sr. and D. Lorene (Randolph) Huey. Howard Edward Huey, Jr.'s memory lives on through his loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered as a hardworking and reliable man with unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Education played an important role in Howard's life, and he graduated from Lathrop High School with a strong sense of discipline and determination. Howard had a fulfilling career as a truck driver with Teamster before he retired in 1995. He was known for his exceptional skills and dedication to his work. His commitment to being reliable and efficient earned him respect among colleagues and superiors alike.
Outside of work, Howard cherished spending time with his family. Some of the fondest memories they shared were flying kites and fishing during their younger years. One of Howard’s favorite things was sharing his love of racing with his son David. Howard's priority was always his family and seeing them happy brought him immense pride and joy.
During the Cold War era, Howard served in the U.S Army from 1955 to 1958 and rose to the rank of corporal. His service to his country exemplified his patriotism and willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.
In addition to being a dedicated husband and father, Howard had several hobbies that brought him relaxation and enjoyment. He loved working in the yard, tending to plants and creating beautiful landscapes. Hosting social events and playing cards with friends were activities that highlighted Howard's sociable nature.
Howard is survived by his daughters, Tonya Huey and Christine Henessee, his sister Jean Walker, and his brother Kenneth Dale Huey. He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Darlene Louis Huey; son, David Edward Huey; parents, Howard Edward Huey, Sr. and D. Lorene (Randolph) Huey; his brother Tom Huey, and his sister Kate Kresse Stanley. Services honoring Howard's life will be held on February 17, 2024. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. This will be followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m., with an interment to follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Montrose, Missouri.
May Howard's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find solace during this difficult time of mourning his loss. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in honor of Howard to the Bishop Sullivan Center.
