James C. Howen, 50, Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2015. Services will be 10 am, Friday, Jan. 23 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens .Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. James was born April 17, 1964 in Independence, MO and graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1982. He worked at Maxi-Seal in Grandview for the last three years and was a member of Carpenters District Council #1329. He loved to fish for catfish and hunt deer. James was preceded in death by his father Dale Howen, sister Roberta Howen and brother Dewayne Howen. He is survived by son Andrew Howen, Independence, MO; daughter Katey Howen, Warrensburg, MO; his mother Mary Howen, Independence, MO; brothers Dan Howen, Holden, MO; Milton Howen and wife Sheila; Allen Howen and wife Terry, all of Independence, MO; sisters Elaine Stolte and husband Nevin, Irving, IL; Mary Ann Howen; Lorraine Burns and husband Kenneth, all of Independence, MO; and his companion Tammy Biggs, of the home.
