Mary Nancy Howerton, of Kansas City, MO, an independent, patriotic, and vibrant woman who loved color in her life, passed away on August 29, 2021. She was 74 years old. Mary was born on November 27, 1946 in Choteau, Montana to Dale and Mary Casey. She graduated from Van Horn High School, in Independence, MO, in the class of 1964. Mary was a wonderful mother to her two children: Ann and David. She was a hardworking single mother, who was very present in children’s lives. She worked as a purchasing agent for Sutherlands Lumber Company for over 30 years. Mary was creative with crafts, especially crocheting. She loved to square dance and was very involved in Parents Without Partners for 15 years. She enjoyed watching nighttime soap operas. Mary was very family oriented, and she loved family functions and she will be deeply missed. Mary is survived by her children, Ann Marie Howerton (Josh Chaffin), and David Wayne Howerton; siblings, Pat Casey, Rose (Jerry) Barger, Cindy (Jaudon) White, Joy (Gary) Froning, Mike (Donna) Casey, Gary Casey, Dan Casey and Shawn (Diana Douglass) Casey; and 2 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dennis Casey (survived by Carol), sister-in-laws, Dorothy Fortner, MaryAnn Casey and Fran Casey.
