Sarah Louise Hoye was born March 26,1931 and departed this world February 24, 2023. She was the daughter of Anton Vincent Walkenbach & Julia Augusta Brady; she was the 4th of 5 sisters. She passed away at The Kansas City Hospice, from a massive stroke earlier. Sarah was 91 years 10 months and 30 days old.
Her husband Edward Hoye preceeded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her 3 Children, Steven E Hoye of New River Arizona, Jerry & Sandra L (Hoye) Calvert and Robert S Hoye, both of Blue Springs Missouri, her 5 Grand Children and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Sarah was a devout Catholic and a devoted wife and mother, who deeply loved her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was born at home in Salt Creek, Leavenworth Co. Kansas weighing only 2 lbs. and not expected to survive. She graduated high school and was working when she met and later married her husband in 1949, who was stationed at Fort Leavenworth at the time. They lived at Ft. Leavenworth Ks. followed by Stuttgart Germany, Detroit Mi, Leavenworth Ks, Socorro, New Mexico and finally retiring to Independence Mo.
Sarah will be Cremated at Speaks Funeral Home in Independence, March 9th, 2023, with a Rosary at 9:00am followed by visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 and a simple graveside service at The National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Ks. At 12:30, where she will be interred with her husband. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Sarah Hoye’s name.
