Kenneth Duane Huckabey, age 85, passed away in Independence, Mo on October 25, 2018.
He was born in the small northeast town of Keytesville, Mo on Nov. 26, 1932 to Aldridge and Bertha Mae Richardson. He grew up farming tobacco from a young age. He moved to KCMO in 1950 where he met and married his wife Roberta (Lampton) Huckabey in 1951. Together they had 4 daughters and 1 son.
Kenneth was employed at Armco Steel and held several positions there until he retired in 1995. Kenneth was a stand-up guitarist with his own unique style. The whole family was involved and put on Country, Bluegrass and Gospel music shows in Levasy, Mo for ten years. He was also a man of Baptist faith, attending the Church of God. Ken had many talents and hobbies, he was a great cook and baker. He loved to feed and watch birds. He was a great crappie fisherman and loved to garden. His family and friends were very important to him and he showered them with love. He is survived by his loving wife Roberta, son Milton Huckabey, Daughter Shenelda Hagler, Daughter Lorraine (Joe) Bellis, Daughter Lynnetta (Glenn) Sellars.
9 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and his youngest special daughter Kenda Nell Huckabey.
Funeral Services will be held Monday October 29, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence Mo 64055. Visitation is at 9 am and the funeral will start at 10 am. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
