George William Huddleston, Jr. 83 of Independence, MO passed away Thu. Apr. 29, 2004 at the Medical Center of Independence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thu. May 6, 2004 at St. Anns Catholic Church, 10113 E. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO 64053. Burial in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, Wednesday at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rosary being said at 7:00 pm. Contributions are suggested to St. Anns Catholic Church or to the Sisters of St. Francis, 2100 N. Noland Rd. Indep, MO 64050. Mr. Huddleston was born on Apr 9, 1921 to George and Elizabeth Huddleston in
Higginsville, MO and had lived most of his life in this area. He had been a clerk with the US Postal Service retiring in 1979 after over 25 years of service. He had previously been employed at Western Electric. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and was awarded 3 Bronze Stars. George was an active member of St. Anns Catholic Church and the Men�s Club and was awarded the Bishops Award for outstanding service in 2002. He was a
life member of the VFW Post 1000 where he had been an active participant in the Military Funeral Honors Program. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 499. Mr. Huddleston is survived by his wife, Florence I. Huddleston, two daughters, Patty K. Brady and Norma J. Higbee and husband Mike, all of Independence, MO. A sister, Elaine Noretta Hamer of Independence, MO. Five grandchildren, Chris Brady, Caroline Brady-Sinco, Jeff Higbee, Jane Ambrosi and Jill Moss. Eight
great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
