Joyce E. Huddleston (Dorrell)

Joyce Eleanor Huddleston, 80 of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, December 12, 2016. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Joyce was born April 12, 1936 to James Francis and Margaret Easter (Tye) Dorrell and has been a life long area resident. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed flower gardening, puzzles, doll making and most of all spending time with family. She was a member of Spirit Life Worship Center. She was proud to be a cancer survivor of breast cancer over 8 years ago. Survivors include; 2 sons, Richard Huddleston and Christopher Huddleston both of Independence, MO; a daughter, Susan Simrell and husband David of Wheatland, MO; former daughter-in-law, Alexis Huddleston of Oak Grove, MO; a brother, Michael Dorrell of Oak Grove, MO; 6 grandchildren, Trevor, Adrian, Krystle, Ashley, Thomas and Melinda; 4 great grandchildren, Emily, Andreas, Liam and El and furry companion, her dog, Bella. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Huddleston in 2005 and a brother Harley Dorrell.
