Kathleen Eloise Hulett, 85, a resident of the Villages of Jackson Creek, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014. Kathleen was born March 22, 1929 in Crawford, Nebraska, the daughter of William Richard Stewart Harcourt, and Ruth Martin Jensen who preceded her in death. Also, preceding her were her husband, George C. Hulett, Jr., and three sisters, Dorothy Jean Harcourt (Hickerson), Margaret Melrose Harcourt (Dethlefsen), and Patricia Ruth Harcourt (Parham). Her early childhood was in Crawford, NE, but she spent most of her life as a resident of Independence, MO. She graduated William Chrisman High School in 1947, during which she met her future husband George C. Hulett, Jr. They were married June 19, 1948 in Sherman, Texas. Kathleen was a great wife and mother, devoted to her family and a heart for those in need. She was a stay at home mom in her sons early years, and later in life enjoyed working professionally in the savings and loan industry. She served as a branch manager and later Assistant Vice-President at the downtown Kansas City Home Savings Association. She worked there for 22 years until the office closed in 1991. She was involved in the Boy Scouts of America, assisting and contributing to the Mother’s Club for Boy Scout Troop 216, Eastgate Christian Church. Her encouragement and support were key factors in her sons obtaining their Eagle Scout awards. Kathleen stayed active long into retirement, volunteering to help with many kinds of church work, including working in the nursery and helping with bookkeeping duties in the office. She and George were active members at Birchwood Baptist and later on at Country Meadows Baptist church for many years. She is survived by her sons, Christopher D. Hulett (Cyndi), of Independence, MO, William R. Hulett (Jane) of Overland Park, KS, a grandson, Brian P. Hulett (Tracy), two granddaughters, Patricia Hulett Cross (Paul), and Jennifer L. Hulett, two great-grandsons, Tanner Cross and Ethan Hulett, and a great-granddaughter, Kensington Cross. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, Monday, October 27, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at the same location, followed by interment at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO.
