Dixie Lee Hunt

Dixie Lee (Elliott) Hunt died peacefully at The Bluffs in Columbia MO, on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. She was born at home in Linn County, MO on September 27th, 1934, the first child of Iris and Clifford Elliott. She graduated from Linn County High School in 1952. She moved to Independence MO the following fall, with assistance from her dad’s sister she found a job working as an Accountant at Western Auto.
Dixie married Charles S. Hunt on May 19, 1956. They had two children Gary Ray Hunt and Terri Lynn (Hunt) Williams.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, two brothers Benny Elliott and Kenneth Elliott. Dixie is survived by her son Gary, and domestic partner Mike Flaherty in Santa Barbara CA, daughter Terri, and spouse David Williams, Grandchildren Jennifer Williams-Stacy (Benjamin) of Columbia and Amy Williams of Champaign, IL, Sisters Dena (Elliott) Evans of Brookfield, Mo, Lois (Elliott) Jackson of Conroe TX; sister in-law Gloria Hunt of Manhattan KS and Jane Elliott of Macon, MO, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12th at 2:00pm with a visitation prior at 1:00pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence MO 64055, with interment following at Mount Washington Cemetery.
