Les Hunter, 87, of Raymore, MO passed away on December 17, 2007 at the Foxwood Springs Living Center. Les was born on May 18, 1920 in Englewood, MO to Eugene Corson Hunter and Aimee Zare (Pierson) Hunter. His siblings included, Clarence, Ralph, Dorothy (Downs), and Virginia (Gregg). Les graduated from William Chrisman High School and attended the University of Missouri. He worked as an architect for Gentry and Vosscamp, and later for Marshall and Brown in Kansas City. Les was deeply involved at the First Christian Church of Independence where he served as deacon, elder, chairman of the board and Sunday School teacher. When he moved to Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Les joined Raymore Christian Church. He was an avid gardener, woodworker, Bible student and photographer. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Les was married for 50 years to Virginia “Ginny” Burnette Hunter who preceded him in death in 1995. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Joan (Marshall) Hunter; his three daughters, Diane (Joe) Castle, Susan (Wayne) Gerhardt, and Jacque Hobble; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, in the Bromwell Lounge at the Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore, MO.
