Carol Diane Hurshman, of Holden, MO passed away far too soon on Thursday, January 20, 2022. She was 71. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 27th. A funeral service will take place at 10am on Friday, January 28th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St.; Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Carol was born on July 9, 1950 in Independence, MO to Robert L. and Betty R. (Ballinger) Dunham. She graduated from Truman High School in 1968, but not before meeting the love of her life, Chester Hurshman during the summer of 1967. They both knew they were meant to be together. They were married June 20, 1969 in Independence. Together, they made a house a home and raised four beautiful children.
Carol was an OR and Laboratory Purchaser for HCA area hospitals. She was a member of Holden Community of Christ and was an active volunteer for the HAMA (Holden Area Ministerial Association) Food Pantry and Hope Outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, flower gardening, watching the birds in her yard and having “Sisters Day” with any or all of her sisters. Most of all, Carol loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her son, John Robert Hurshman.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Chester; her children, Melissa (Eric) Nelson, Angela Thornton (Billy Brown), and Brian (Katie) Hurshman; grandchildren, Andrew Caylor, Arya Nelson, Nova Nelson, Ethan Thornton, Jacob Hurshman, and Savana Hurshman; her siblings, Kris (Jack) Sutherland, Robert (Janet) Dunham, Michael Dunham, Lori Stoerner, Theresa (John) Foulke, Kathy Dunham, and Michael Dunham.
