David Allen Hurshman, 66 of Independence, Mo passed away, Thursday, July 25, 2013 at his residence. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening, where the family requests casual attire, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund. David was born December 31, 1946 in Independence, MO to C. Dwight and Mary (Luektenhoelter) Hurshman and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a carpenter and had worked for a number of years for the Carpenter’s Union Local #1329. He enjoyed cars and racing and was a KC Chief’s and NASCAR fan. He grew up in the RLDS church and was a member of several friends groups. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Mayes of the home; a son, David Troy Hurshman and his wife Sonia of Buckner, MO; 2 daughters, Kari Yazel of Independence, MO and Wendi Luttrell and husband Kirk of Grain Valley; 5 sisters, Donna Sutherland, Evelyn Hall, Pat Snedeger and Judy Durham all of Independence, MO and Ruth Haynes and husband Al of Fairbanks. Alaska; a brother, Everett “Dean” Hurshman and wife Kay of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, MacKenzie, MaKayla and Kaden Hurshman, Taylor and Hattie Yazel, Chandler and Lily Luttrell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Hurshman.
